Family and baby portrait photography in Chiswick, West London W4: Twins!

Wednesday, April 11th, 2012

As a London-based baby, children and family photographer, I regularly visit locations in West London and I was back in Chiswick in the London borough of Hounslow, W4 last week to photograph two very happy twin baby brothers. Apart from actually being twins, the two little chaps are real individuals in their own right both in looks (being unidentical) and character. What they did share though was the sheer joy of being alive, and the complete focus of both mummy and daddy for a whole morning. Mutual adoration all round.

We all had great fun, and the time whizzed by between play, naps, cuddles, a quick spin around the garden and at lunch time examining spoons, shaking water over heads and practicing competing for food!

Here are a few of my favourite images from my baby portraiture photography session in Chiswick W4:

Suffolk donkeys

Monday, April 2nd, 2012

All winter I have been hoping to photograph donkeys in the frost, and whenever I am in Suffolk setting my alarm before light, struggling out of bed just to check if we have any, and hoping in particular for that very magical hoar frost.

But we haven’t had much frost this year, and now spring is upon us so in the end I have had to settle for donkeys in snow which I photographed back in January as these gracious beasts brace themselves against the particularly biting cold that we get in this part of the world when temperatures go below freezing.

Now we are almost at Easter and thoughts turn to the donkeys again and to my little friend Bella whose birthday I photographed a few weeks back and who adores donkeys and I promised to take along should  I visit them again with my camera.

I’m so glad I did as she definitely has a special affinity with them, long after we’d run out of carrots:

Who says you can’t get great shots in the rain? Family and children’s portrait photography in Ipswich and Grundisburgh, Suffolk

Monday, March 26th, 2012

I had the pleasure of returning to the Vinton family last week - a family of three children aged 2, 5 and 8. A couple of years ago I photographed the children’s christening at Grundisburgh church, near Woodbridge Suffolk so it was lovely to go back especially now their youngest is on her feet and  running around with her siblings and fully interacting with the rest of the family.

Despite all the lovely weather we are getting right now, rain almost stopped play at this session. However,  I rarely cancel shoots in bad weather as you can actually get great shots in it (as I hope this post is testament to) and we were all happy to venture out and see what happened. In the event this was definitely a day of ’set in, non-stop rainfall’ so I returned  this rainfree weekend for another hour to join in on one of the children’s  favourite activities - exploring the countryside at the back of their house,  looking for bugs and playing on an abandoned hay bale in the field nearby.

Here are many of my favourites from what turned out to be a  great fun and successful rainy morning of family photography in Christchurch Park in Ipswich and afterwards drying out at home in Grundisburgh.

Tomorrow I’ll post the non rainy shots and you can decide which you like the best…

Publicity and PR Photography in Suffolk: Final night Celebration Schools Music 2012

Wednesday, March 14th, 2012

In my previous post I included some highlights from my time backstage and in rehersals during last week’s fantastic A Celebration of School’s Music held at Snape Maltings Concert Hall arranged by Aldeburgh Music

On the final night I returned and for the first time was able to photograph discreetly from the auditorium. Here are some highlights from 7 great performances and the finale piece when all the schools came together under the dynamic direction of composer and professional Jazz Pianist Pete Letanka to sing ‘Cuckoo‘, one of Benjamin Britten’s songs. Innovative, inclusive and spine tinglingly moving it was too.

I think everyone will remember this year’s event for a long time to come.. it just seems to get better and better…

Children’s Portrait Photography in Suffolk: Bella’s Birthday Portraits and Party

Monday, February 27th, 2012

I have photographed Bella a number of times now over recent years and every time, even though she gets older - and technically should become more self conscious and therefore trickier to capture relaxed and herself - she remains a portrait photographer’s dream exactly because she is so completely honest in front of the camera. This time it was a particularly special moment in her childhood, her 12th birthday celebrations, marking this watershed moment before becoming a tenneager.

I arrived a little bit before the party so Bella and I could do some portraits together visiting a nearby bit of woodland. Then it was back to the house to receive five 12 year old guests for some group shots involving an armchair, some gymnastics, and a mini, followed by some fab decopatch (thoroughly recommended - www.thedecopatchplace.co.uk - ) afternoon tea and cake, playing with the cats (12 year old girls and cats go together) and a bit of dancing to One Direction…  And if you don’t know who they are, you’re not 12.

I’m looking forward to taking some more photographs of Bella soon when the bluebells appear so watch this space for that…
