Happy Client - Corporate and PR Photography, City of London

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011

I am delighted this morning to have this feedback on Linkedin from Leslie-ann Giovnilli who employed me to cover a corporate event last week at the Merchant Taylors Hall, City of London  (see previous post):

“Anna came to me as a recommendation from someone I trusted and I am so glad I employed her. During her shoot with us she was nicknamed ‘the sniper’ as she was everywhere at once but in no-ones way.
Her pictures are great, such depth and context with such a lot of the personality of each subject showing in each.
I would happily say that Anna is a professional that you need to employ if you are serious about looking good at your business.”

Corporate and PR Photography in City of London: Merchant Taylors Hall

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Last week I photographed a business event in London: the Arc (Association of Run-off Companies) annual Congress at the Merchant Taylor’s Hall in the heart of the city. My brief was to record the various speakers and panelists in action, produce some head and shoulder shots (for which I set up my lights in a separate room) and some more reportage style images of people mingling and conversing between the talks to convey the spirit of the event.

This kind of event photography is of course very different in content from a wedding or family photography but it is still all about observing and trying to capture the essence and atmosphere of what is going on around you -  whether it is people in suits and ties talking about the financial markets, making their vows in a wedding dress or playing hide and seek in a garden.

I always learn something photographically with every job I undertake, but also by osmosis non photographic stuff. In this case I found myself fascinated by the implications of insurance claims - from the Gulf Oil Spill to the onset of cancer - the ongoing fallout in Ireland since the collapse of the celtic tiger, and something about a spiral at which point I was completely lost:

PR and Event Photography in London - MTC at the Royal College of Physicians

Friday, October 1st, 2010

London 2012 and the Olympic Games coming to our capital is closer than we all imagine and this week I had the pleasure of photographing a really special event Ahead of the Games at the Royal College of Physicians hosted by the media and talent managment company MTC and  Shelagh Fogarty from Radio Five Live. 15 Olympic athletes from both past and present took part (see their portraits below) and were also joined by Head Coach of British Athletics Charles Van Commenee, Ned Boulting sports journalist and broadcaster and Olympic Gold Champion James Cracknell.

I usually find myself tuning out of what is being said when I’m recording events but it was impossible to do this here - the anticipation of the thrill and excitement in store for 2012 filled the room, and with so many unique, moving and often hilarious testimonies from the athletes, even a sports phillistine such as me could not fail to be inspired.

Here are some highlights from the day followed by all the athletes who took part:

London Photography: Article in Discretion magazine

Monday, September 13th, 2010

This autumn I have a couple of interviews about my photography and services being published, one Suffolk based and one London based.

The first (below) is for Discretion magazine which is part of the London based company Greycoat Placements. Greycoat Placements are London’s foremost specialists in recruitment and placement of high calibre private domestic staff across the country. The magazine is full of useful guidance and information on all matters domestic from childcare to hosting parties and from planning trips abroad to showcasing suppliers and photographers like me!

The title of the article is What would you rescue in the event of a fire? Obviously I’m a tad biased, but I reckon for most of us it would be those irreplaceable family images captured and frozen in time -  the ultimate aide memoires -  for posterity and for future generations.

If you would like to read the article please visit Discretion magazine online where there is the option to download it as a pdf.

The second article will be next month, and is a 4 page interview in Suffolk Magazine.

Aldeburgh, Suffolk Photography: Carnival!

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

Aldeburgh Music commissioned me this week to record their involvement in one of Suffolk’s most popular annual events: the Aldeburgh Carnival which apparently has been in existence since 1835 and involves a procession through the streets and along the seafront, followed by music, dancing, brass band, lanterns by twilight and fireworks on the beach.

Aldeburgh Music’s Sunday Youth Group joined forces with Glyndebourne Youth Opera Group to perform some fantastic Cuban music and song as well as amazing dance with equally amazing energy.

All round fantastic stuff and ’scuse the pun’ right up my street especially being able to stand atop a moving  landrover and shoot pictures from higher up as the guys processed down the high street. And, with no one from Health and Safely telling me or anyone else what to do. Refreshing in these over regulated times and long may this lovely event remain so.

Here are a few hightlights and yes that’s the Carnival Queen at the end looking serene and regal as folk started to release their lanterns into the night sky.

You can see all the pictures that made my edit from this event and /or order prints by clicking here:
