ABOUT ME

After studying Art History at University, my twenties were spent mostly in book publishing as an editor and commissioning editor working on large illustrated non-fiction books, many of which included photography.
When I moved on from the BBC in 1999, I got hooked on two things: gardening and photography. I knew I wanted to try and turn one of them into a career (initially driven by the desire never to work in an office based environment again). My first proper SLR camera, a simple manual Nikon FM2 film camera, was bought in 2000. After various courses, a diploma in professional practice at the London College of Printing, and more significantly a trip to India in which my visual senses received a wake up call, I started to work as a photographer.
Nine years on, apart from the other big event in my life - having a child (now 6 yrs old) - I have been pretty much living and breathing photography every day.
People have always been 'where it's at' for me. Apart from observing and capturing images of them, meeting and chatting to people from all walks of life, making a connection with them and the challenge of meeting, and hopefully exceeding, their expectations of the image/s they are looking for, is both a privilege and for me deeply rewarding.
You can keep abreast of my latest work by visiting my blog as well as viewing the various sections on this site.
I hope to hear from you.
