My approach and promise to you..

My quiet non-obtrusive approach - where I observe, anticipate and shoot as the day unfolds - ensures a genuine, natural record of your day. Traditionally this style has been called wedding photojournalism, documentary wedding photography or reportage, but essentially all you need to know is that on the day I will combine a mixture of staying close to the action, standing back, and blending in with your guests with minimal interference in what is happening in front of me. You may decide on a small selection of group photographs which will involve a little gentle but crucially pre-prepared and therefore swift direction by me, and I always encourage you to allow 15 minutes for some first portraits of you both usually very informally. Apart from that the photography is something that is happening in the background of your day.

Whether you decide on a luxury Queensberry wedding album, a set of professional photographic prints, digital files or a set of framed prints, I want you, in that moment when you see your final images from me, to be transported instantly back to the magic and spirit of that day and for you to delight in this every time you visit your images thereafter.

I want to take your breath away with beautiful, flattering, natural images of you both.  I want to move you, whether that emotion is one of hilarity at a moment that doesn't quite go to plan, of intimacy between you both as you say your vows or emerge from the church, or a quiet exchange with someone close to you - a mother, father, sibling or best friend. I want to bring back to you those key moments and I want to surprise you and extend your experience of your day by capturing those moments that you may have missed. Providing the very best service to my clients, and knowing through years of experience and a honing of my skills both as a photographer and in postproduction that I can confidently deliver that, is at the heart of my promise to you.

But there are other important elements too that I take very seriously. I positively want to get to know you over the months before your day. I want to know your story - how you met, what you do, your likes and dislikes as individuals and as a couple. I love meeting new people and getting to know them and this is central to what inspired and continues to inspire me as a photographer.  I want to hear about the little details of your wedding - the dress, the flowers, the colours, your choice of music and readings, and any quirky little details that will make your wedding unique to you.  I want to listen carefully to your needs and also to be on hand to help you in any way I can. I want to be thoroughly prepared before the day so that all the photographic considerations have been aired, discussed and agreed upon upfront to ensure maximum creative freedom for myself on the day and so you can be free to relax and enjoy every minute with your guests. And finally I want to be fresh and totally focused on the day itself.

After your wedding I want to set aside proper time for the edit and postproduction work and to employ my skills and creativity again in this crucial part of the process. I  will work individually on every image that makes my edit to ensure the optimum results in print. This work is time consuming but the post processing and retouching I do can make the difference between a great image and one that really sings. And if I am producing an album for you, I want to ensure that the design and layout and the production values are second to none and to deliver to you a timeless heirloom with pride and in the knowledge that I have given you my very best and hopefully exceeded your expectations.
