Artists in their studio - Ruth Tomlinson Jewellery Designer

website-photography-for-artists-1.jpg

This on-location session was all about telling the story of the process of how Ruth works to create exquisite pieces of jewellery in her studio and to capture some portraits of Ruth herself. I don’t think I have ever photographed someone in a more serene atmosphere, shooting pictures as Ruth went about her morning.

I love to photograph still life details too which this story required.

Ruth Tomlinson is an independent contemporary jewellery designer, drawn to earth’s natural and precious treasures out of which she creates beautiful original and unique pieces with ethereal and unexpected imperfections that often celebrate beauty in unconventional ways. Ruth sees herself as primarily a craftsperson inspired by her materials, processes and techniques. She looks for the essence of the past in a stone - the hidden story of its origins and journey to her workbench, then lovingly and intricately renewed and reinterpreted into a unique piece of jewellery.

Ruth can now be found in London’s famous home of jewellery, Hatton Garden.

I absolutely love to work with artists to create a visual story or legacy in pictures. Something that provides a personal record and keepsake to pass down the generations as well, of course, to use to help explain to others the processes they employ to create their work and the spirit of it.

If you are looking for some more environmental or specific portraits of you, perhaps in your studio or on location to demonstrate how you work, for your website etc, get in touch. I’d love to hear from you and help interpret what you do in some pictures.
