Lambeth Town Hall Wedding - Eva & Chris

newly-weds at Brixton Town Hall laughing together in the reception space.

“Anna, we’re going to Lambeth Town Hall to meet our friends and families, get married, then head down Brixton Hill where we would like some pictures of just the two of us as Brixton is ‘our place’ and afterwards to Upstairs at the Department Store for the celebrations. We just want everything to be super relaxed and flexible so please just tip up and take pictures.”

That is a bit of a dream brief for a wedding photographer who likes to capture moments as they happen and take portraits. And everything about Eva and Chris’s wedding at Lambeth (aka Brixton) Town Hall was exactly that, with Eva kicking the flexibility part off by being almost an hour late for the ceremony:)

But this is Lambeth Town Hall and whilst they have weddings almost back to back most days in Spring and thoughtout the wedding season, they are also cool and understand that this is London and in London, brides get stuck in traffic and have to get their hair just right before they leave. Eva’s hair as you can see was more than ‘just right’. It was a show stopper as was her entire outfit. I was in for a treat with these two.

I photographed almost everything at this wedding as it happened - mingling with the guests as they arrived, documenting the ceremony and then a lively, sun and champagne drenched reception, on one of the hottest days in May, on one of the coolest rooftops and wedding venues that is Upstairs at the Department Store in Brixton.

Five hours of documentary wedding photography with a 15 minute walkabout with the newly-weds around for some first married portraits, and a few family groups with their siblings and parents, finishing up with a record of the speeches that brought a tear to my eye and had me clutching my cameras a little more tightly to hold steady in the moments of hilarity.

A London couple who tying the knot after 15 years together and still as in love with each other as if they had just met. Kisses galore and now they are officially sealed.
