Greek Orthodox Wedding Photography, London

Oh the spectacle, the organised chaos, the humour (with giggling and interjections welcomed) of a Greek Orthodox wedding. It’s a while since I’ve attended one and I had forgotten just how wonderful energetic and magical they are.

Everything in the ceremony is performed in triplicate - the blessing, kissing, and placing of the rings; repeat for the crown, the cup, and thrice round the altar in a circle.

Alex and Celine Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony took place in St George’s Greek Orthodox Church in Kingston-upon-Thames. The interior is narrow, the light is low, the space is tight but that just made for even greater character, intimacy and atmosphere as I hope these pictures testify.

After the service, friends and family gathered at the Wharf by the river at Teddingon lock for their wedding breakfast celebrations. Celine (as her name describes her) looked heavenly and Alex an emotional and adoring grroom. The Priest was human and hilarious, the mothers and girlfriends shed tears, Uncle Don came to the rescue with his trusty cane to arrange the veil during the group photographs, the sun shone and everyone who mattered was there to share in this beautiful union of two people very much in love.

Some of my favourite images from the day, all in black and white here as black and white has a way of getting to the heart of the story, but if you choose me as your wedding photographer, you will have every image in glorious colour too.

If you are looking for a wedding photographer who is discreet, but great with people, will capture genuine, meaningful, original documentary wedding photographs perhaps with some swift but beautifully crafted portraits in the mix, please get in touch, I’d love to hear from you.
