Documentary, or candid, photography is all about getting in close as well standing back and I do this physically and psychologically throughout the session as I anticipate and observe - sometimes constructing images in the frame, at others simply making sure that I have frozen in time that very fleeting spontaneous moment.
When I’m photographing you and your family, apart from anticipating moments, looking for the light and composing my pictures, emotion and connection are at the forefront of my mind.
But what it all comes down to is to capture you naturally, how you really are at the juncture in your family history and to move you every time you look back on your pictures.
